GippsDairy, Dairy Australia and the Gippsland Young Dairy Network have designed a workshop to provide development opportunities for enthusiastic dairy people facilitated by John Mulvany, OMJ Consulting.

This workshop aims to help farmers consider the options available to them as they transition into or out of the diary industry.  The workshop may assist those looking to take the next step in their career; as well as those who are looking to transition out of the industry in a more effective way.

The day presents considerable detail on share farming and leasing as the vehicles of transition.

The workshop is designed to be interactive and content will include:

– An introduction of Dairy Australia’s ‘Share Diary Farming in Australia – model code of practice’ which assists in evaluating if you are suited to share dairy farming
– Overview of the Leasing Dairy Assets Resource Pack
– Evaluating options: staying as an employee, share dairy farming, leasing, owner or equity partner
– Helping individuals sort out what they want
– Focusing on building relationships between business partners
– Highlight mentor and professional support available
– Real life case studies
– Starting the process of transition
– Resources on share dairy farming and leasing to take away
